a story

Let me tell you a story about a girl who was born with a normal weight, yet due to the love outpoured by her family, she grow to be overweight overtime.

Growing up, she grow fond of dancing, acting & singing. At the age of 5, her mom introduce her to an arts centre, where she learn & perform with the Arts group for 3 years. She fall in love with dancing ever since.

Yet life took it twist. She fell ill for 2 months and her mom decided that she should quit dancing. She continue to perform in her school Christmas celebration annually.

Till one year, her teacher forbid girls with big size who has entered the growing up stage to dance in Balet tops, that shows too much flesh she thinks. Her mom joined the forced, as she heard some comments from strangers that the girl in pink balet top is too fat to dance.

Hurt, she decided to accept the bittter truth that dancing is not for big size girl. At this pt of time she learned the fact that her voice is enjoyable. She ventured into this opportunity and stick with the Choir group till her University days.

Yet somewhere somehow, deep down inside her heart, she kept waiting for a chance to dance again, where big size girls are accepted to dance.. Every time she watch a wonderful dance, her heart beats faster, her passion: burnt.

One day the chance arrived. The Church she joined are looking for dancers. Serving the Lord, they look for dancers with heart to serve, and not with the ability to perform.

She finally dare to take the steps to loosen her body one more time, and Danz !! It's not all smooth sailing, she's not fully accepted in the beginning. Sceptism still arrive, can the fat girl dance ?

That's where she learnt that His grace is all sufficient for those who believe. He protects here & cover her throughout her days where she serves.

Yet a long buried dream still lies in her heart. To change lifes through dance. To revive the talents in her ministry. To hit the stage one last time, and proof that Her God is awesome.

He created dreams to be made come true. He knows too well her passion, and His purpose in her creation. He kept her waiting for long, yet made His purpose known at the right time.

You know too well, the girl is me.

I hope you heart my story. Don't ever stop believing, never loose hope, don't give up when you've run the furthest, don't be ackward when you are differrent from the rest of the world. Don't ever take the ppl's criticsm that kills ur heart.

For dreams are not meant to be broken. Talents are not given to be wasted. Hopes are not planted to be shatterred, and passion are not turned on to be burnt.

Believe in yourself, even when your loved ones doubt u, coz God above believes in you.

Being a dance director for Nasi Boengkoes musical is a dream come true for me. That, after years of mocking from strangers & my own parents, and a 1000% doubt from my own realm knowing my limitation in dancing, choreoing & leading a group of 20 +++ dancerz.

But He kept me waiting for exactly 28.5 years of my life to make this dream come true, and even taking care of the dance Himself, it's all worthwhile only for His glory.

And as much as I hope this will be my end of journey, I believe this is just the beginning of His higher calling:), coz I finally know what my life is all for.

To Build, change & impact life, through Dance:)

NASI BOENGKOES is ALL FOR GOD'S GLORY !!
